Alba is Ali's personal trainer! Quite possibly the friendliest girl on the planet. She is an expert in the small exercises that make a big difference. Alba doesn’t believe in ‘sweating it out’ in the gym, but everybody knows that moderate exercise is good for you, will help you lose weight more quickly and tone you up. Alba has some clever techniques and moves which, if you want to, you can do at home using ordinary everyday items and that fit around a busy lifestyle.

Can working out in the morning burn more calories?

I personally love working out in the morning, yes I know to some of you this may be madness but my reasons for choosing this time are because

  • It really sets me up for the day after my morning workout I feel ready for anything!! By exercising in the morning it means it’s done. I’m not very good at waiting until the evening to workout as I’m too eager and want to do it first thing. But more importantly it stops anything coming up during the day that might stop me from being able to workout later in the day.
  • If I workout in the evening I often find it hard to unwind afterwards, this way I know I can just come home and chill out.
  • This time of day suits me, I am a morning person so always have more productive workouts in the morning as opposed to in the evening.
  • This time of day also suits my lifestyle and it’s my me-time allowing me to gather my thoughts for the day ahead.

But working out in the morning doesn’t suit everybody, if you’re not a morning person or simply exercising in the morning just isn’t possible due to other commitments then it’s not for you.

Whether you workout in the morning, middle of the day or evening it doesn’t really affect the amount of calories you burn. If you really aren’t a morning person or have very little time in the morning you wont really put in a lot of effort or you may rush it and possibly make a half hearted effort. Where as if you find a time to exercise when you are more alert, energetic and have more time you are more likely to push yourself and have a more productive workout and probably burn a lot more calories.
