Wow what a difference a few inches make, well at least in some sections of the media… unless you’ve been buried under a mountain of snow you’ll have read the debate in the gossip mags on the lovely Jessica Simpson and her recent weight gain. It’s front page news… I think the world’s gone mad! It’s been an up and down month all round on the celeb scene, Jessica Simpson and Kelly Clarkson’s weight is on the up, while Britney and Kerry Katona’s is on the way down… But the bit that really gets me is the way it’s presented…
Do we read… ‘Jessica Simpson’s put on a few pounds, is enjoying life now she’s out of her unhappy marriage and has stopped starving herself to fit into her size zero hot pants, good on her’… No!
Or ‘Kerry’s lost some weight but still has the same underlying issues that mean you’ll be reading about her in these same mags for months if not years to come.’
No!
Instead they say: ‘It’s poor Jessica’s put on weight, is her career over?’ and ‘Kerry looks great and shows that she’s back on top with her new trim figure.’
The way weight is being portrayed is all wrong!
Here’s my view of the world… ‘If you’re happy and healthy, you’re doing the right thing…’
I will help you with YOUR goals but I’m certainly not going to tell you what you ‘should’ be doing or what your ideal weight ‘should’ be.
Your ideal weight is the weight at which you are happy and have the energy to do the things you ‘want’ to do… Simple as that, AND if you’re not at that point I will do everything I can to help you get there…
That’s what this site and The Slim Girl’s Box of Secrets is all about… Finding the easiest way to help you to get where YOU want to be and stay there consistently!
I’m sure like most women your weight has been up and down and up and down more often than Paris Hilton’s… Yo Yo ☺
Please don’t emotionally buy into the media hype and pressure about what you ‘should’ do. It’s just not the real world and often the people in the mags don’t even look like that.
I’ve worked with many models and actresses over the years and I’ll happily tell you that if I didn’t know who I was meeting I wouldn’t recognise most of them… AND despite what you might be led to believe most people don’t find really skinny that attractive anyway…
A recent survey for Fabulous (News of the world) revealed that most women say they want to be a size 8 but in fact most of men prefer a 12 and in a survey of 1,000 men and women surveyed by More magazine only six per cent of men said skinny women were the most desirable, with only three per cent wanting to see Victoria Beckham ‘in the buff.’ Hmmm…?
So don’t do it for anyone else, navigate by where you’re happy, by where you have the energy and the body to do all the things YOU want to do… That’s the ideal weight and it’s yours…
As Lisa Smosarski, editor of More magazine, said: “Men like curvy women who look after themselves and have sex appeal, women who know how to have a good time without worrying about their calorie intake.”
Till next time, enjoy the gossip but forget the pressure…
Ali
