Travelling light is a fabulous idea in theory but can we really pack a basic holiday capsule wardrobe and still look stylish? Splurge out on a couple of key pieces that will see you looking stylish with ease throughout your holiday.

Linen trousers are a holiday essential; they’re comfortable to wear in all climates, lightweight to pack and it doesn’t matter if they crease in transit. These super versatile trousers will create an effortlessly stylish look from day through to evening.

Pack more tops than bottoms, as people tend to notice your top half more and if rolled up properly they will pack down to nothing whilst avoiding creasing. Make sure you take a decent selection of cool slinky cotton t-shirts for daywear and a couple of your favourite embellished designer tops for the evening.

Pack a pair of flat metallic sandals or flip-flops, which will look great worn with a bikini and silk kaftan by the poolside or with your new exquisite maxi dress whilst sampling the finest local cuisine.

Pretty sundresses look cute worn on their own with flats during the day but add a chunky belt and some bold sparkling accessories just before heading out for the evening and you’ll instantly create a totally different look. Accessorise cleverly and you’ll get the best out of your separates by creating endless outfits.

For those colder evenings why not take with you a big multi-way cardigan which you can wear in many different ways. Perfect for wearing on the plane in case of those chilly air conditioning spurts, this essential item means that it doesn’t even take up room in your holiday luggage.

A string bikini looks great on the hanger in your favourite boutique but if you take more than a D cup bra size then forget it. It’s not an attractive look to be hanging out all over place and if you enjoy swimming in the pool or diving in the sea, make sure you choose a style that has a little more support.

Best way to motivate self to create a holiday capsule wardrobe is to take kids. I only have room for 1 pair knickers, 1 bra and a towel. Less is more............
