Getting going part 2…
please do not read this till next week or after you are comfortable with the ideas in part 1…
Drink!
An odd one when we’re talking about weight loss but drinking plenty of water will definitely help you lose weight, (caffeine and booze don’t count though) your body burns fat much better when well hydrated, as well as making your muscles look full and tight, it’s also really good for the skin and minimizing dare I say the odd dimply bit…Drink water throughout the day 8 glasses if you can – everyday! You’ll find lots more information in the ‘fit’ section here on the website too…
Sleep
We need 7–8 hours sleep per night to ensure our body’s health and well-being. Some people can function well on less, but on average more sleep will decrease the amount of food you crave. (No, it’s not just because you can’t eat while you’re sleeping ) People who sleep less than 6 hours a night produce more of a hunger-inducing hormone and less of the hormone that balances your metabolism. You must be thinking this is the best weight loss system ever. You have just started and already I’m telling you to sleep more.
Eat the best bits first
If you’re like me you probably save the best till last. You start with the chips and eventually get to the chicken, making sure that your last mouthful is the best. You do right? It’s amazing the difference you’ll notice if you just re-prioritize. Research has shown that protein makes us feel fuller quicker while carbs tend to be more, well, moreish! Eat the good bits first and not only will you be getting all the good nutrients and lean protein you’ll be less likely to polish off those fattening chips. Without even being aware of it this is what I naturally do and do you know what? Everyone who has tried it says it works… it’s your turn now
If you suck at exercise
There is no better way to burn calories, tone up and lose a few pounds but if you’re going to make the effort lets make sure you get the most out of every breath. Trainers on, i-pod on, tummy sucked in and off you go… but for how long? Here’s the real key, hold your tummy in as you exercise but stop for a quick rest as soon as you find yourself relaxing your stomach muscles. Then, as soon as you’re ready to go again, pull those tummy muscles in and off you go. Engaging your core muscles as you exercise will have an amazing effect on your waistline. Like before you can find lots more on how to tone up easily without going near the dreaded gym in the ‘fit’ section of the site.
Clench
This is one of my favorite cheeky exercises Sorry bad joke, but it really works and you can do it anywhere but it’s best performed in ‘stealth mode.’ It couldn’t be simpler, wherever you are just clench your bum as tight as you can and hold for a count of ten then relax and repeat. Now I must warn you, do this in front of the mirror first, and notice your clench face you might need to practice it a few times so that you can do it without looking like you’re laying an egg… or worse
It’s not about weight loss
Make losing weight the secondary goal. While most of us struggle to get to the dreaded gym or fitness class, we seldom lack motivation to have fun. The key is to find ways to have a lot of fun, and oh yeah, you burn a lot of calories as well. Figure out what exercises you are effortlessly motivated to do, just for fun! Break your emotional attachment to food and find some sneaky ways to exercise without it feeling like a chore and you’ll be losing pounds and feeling great in no time you’ll find lots in the ‘fun non gym’ section… Please remember this is the easy way to lose weight and feel good. It shouldn’t feel like a chore, if it does you’re probably doing it wrong so go back and notice if you are slipping back into your old ‘dieting’ mindset but also remember that I am right here to support you all the way so don’t be shy, if you’re feeling stuck just shout!
